Installing a Solid State Hard Drive on an ASUS Eee PC 1215T NetBook
In this video we took apart an ASUS Eee PC 1215T NetBook and replaced the 320GB hard drive with an OCZ Vertex II 60GB Solid State Hard Drive SSD. Installation was simple enough, but actually getting to the hard drive in this NetBook was difficult as there is not a cover underneath like there is for the RAM. In the end it was worth it! It is a bit of an understatement to say the performance improved. Most notably the boot time was much, much faster. Even browsing the internet was quicker and of course applications loaded much faster. These NetBooks do not have an optical drive, so getting the operating system installed was accomplished via a USB flash drive.
